The Regency of Central Tapanuli its Capital is Pandan resembling one of the regions level II in the Province of North Sumatera, located at the position of 1◦25’ - 2◦20’ NL and 98◦10’ - 99◦05 EL by covering land area of approx 2.194 square kilometers consisting 0f 8 Subdistrict and 2 representatives of subdistrict

Seeing from the sector of tourism, the Regency of Region Level II of Central Tapanuli is sufficiently Potential for it’s having approx. 28 Locations of tourist objects spreading in every subdistrict and this region’s also constituting a central point for the visitors who will be visiting Nias Island and the next to continue the trip leaving for West Sumatera.

Beside the tourist objects such as the natural beauty, beach, sea park, islands, historical remnants and cultural with the regional specific cuisine. Also possesses potency in the division of agro-tourism like sea-fishery, plantation (palm-oil, rubber, and cocoa), agriculture of food and forest produce by the increasing Products annually. PANDAN BEACH

The Pandan Beach is situated in a subdistrict of Sibolga, centre of Central Tapanuli Capital. Where the beach is large and sloping famous for the beauty of it’s view, 10 km from Sibolga City. This spot is crowded to visit by the visitors all at once to be the spot of recreation for the visitors of the environmental region. At Pandan found regional specific food and souvenir shop from the sea produce either in the day time or in the evening.

KALANGAN BEACH.

The Kalangan Beach is located around the Pandan Beach where at this location is yearly held Festival of Tapian Nauli ( Beautiful Water ) and this place is visited by many people for the spot is approx. 3 Ha and grown by the leafy trees by the beach of Muara kalangan

PANE ISLAND

The Pane Island is resembling a peninsula sticking out into the sea to be farmed for the beauty of beach and is able to enjoy it’s beauty when it’s sunset, at this location found an old well of which water is very useful to heal many kinds of desease.

The OLD CITY of BARUS

Formerly, the Barus town is resembling one of the oldest sea port when Islamic history in Indonesia was started there. In this town, we can found walls of Portugese remnants, and old tombs in the old times in the legends from every tomb that has become the materials of research for the Department of Education.

SITUNGKUS ISLAND

The Situngkus Island is a small Island by the entry to bay of Tapian Nauli toward the south. This island a hill of stone formed cone seemed as if appearing out of the sea surface soaring up. This island constituting a shelter for the fisherman at the time when the storm comes. Around this island of which depth of the sea ia approx 40 meters resembling a place for fishing Tuna using the chicken feathers as the bait (Mangirik).


KADE GADANG BEACH

The Kade gadang beach is located at the subdistrict of Barus where this beach is famous for the beauty and the cleanliness of its sea sand, the waves are big and also resembling open beach. This beach is also a port of traditional fisherman canoe.

MURSALA ISLAND

It’s located in the Subdistrict of Tapian Nauli, this island can become the spot of recreation, around the island found a sea park which is a beautiful with beautiful corals and the fish in earning the living , the water is so clean, the sand is white, beside that, found beautiful water fall and it can become the area of animal hunting and the island is also famous for it’s legend of Princes Runduk.


BAKAL ISLAND

The island of Bakal is an island located near by Situngkus Island where its beach with white sand and water is clean. Around the island we can see in the sea may kinds of wild fish. On this island, there is an old tomb regarded sacred and also found ancient cannon. It’s ideal for activity of fishing and on the island found a fresh water shower so that at this location can also become the location of camping.

The area of the North Sumatran province mainland 71.680 km 2, North Sumatra most famous because of the area of his plantation, up to now, the plantation continued to become the important economic of the province.This plantation was managed by the private company and the country.North Sumatra produced rubber, chocolate, tea, the oil palm, coffee, the clove, the coconut, cinnamon, and tobacco.This plantation was spread in Deli Serdang, Langkat, Simalungun, Asahan, Labuhan Batu, and Tapanuli Selatan.
This commodity was exported to various countries and gave the foreign exchange contribution that was very big for Indonesia.

Apart from the plantation commodity, North Sumatra was also known as the producer of the commodity holtikultura (vegetables and the fruit); for example the Medan Citrus Fruit,Deli Guava, Col, Tomato, Potato, and carrots that were produced by the Karo Regency, Simalungun and Tapanuli Utara.The product holtikultura this was exported to Malaysia and Singapore.The government of the province (the Provincial Government) North Sumatra has also built various infrastructures and the infrastructure to launch the good trade between the regency in North Sumatra and between North Sumatra and the other province.

The private sector also was involved by establishing various property for the trade, the office complex, the hotel et cetera.Of course the other sector, like the co-operative, the mining and energy, the industry, tourism, the post and the telecommunications, transmigration, and the social sector social also took part in being developed.To facilitate the development co-ordination, then North Sumatra was divided into four Development territories.

North Sumatra was the fourth province biggest the number of his inhabitants in Indonesia after West Java, East Java, and Central Java. According to results of complete counting of the Penduduk Census (SP) 1990 North Sumatran inhabitants on October 31 1990 (the census day) numbering 10.81 million souls, and during 2002, the number of North Sumatran inhabitants were estimated of 11.85 million souls. North Sumatran population density in 1990 was 143 souls per km 2 and in 2002 increased to 165 souls per km 2, whereas the growth rate of the North Sumatran inhabitants for the period of the year 1990-2000 were 1.20 percent per the year.The level of Labour Participation (TPAK) North Sumatra each year appeared fluctuating. During 2000. TPAK in this area of 57.34 percent, in 2001 rose to 57.70 percent, in 2002 rose still became 69.45 percent
